Just in case you haven't heard, Ray-Vin is making the indexers and case kickers once again.
We retired in 2010, but after three years of BORING, I realized this work was my hobby and I put together a new shop and picked up where we left off.
Indexers and kickers are in stock and ship same or next business day.
Regards, Ray

Star Reloaders / Star Press Mounting Solutions
« on: January 07, 2006, 05:55:32 am »
When I first got my Star I was uncertain as how to mount it. I didn't want to put a hole in a workbench for the primers. Here is a photo of my mount. How about others showing their solution? - Regards, Ray

Star Reloaders / Star for .223
« on: September 14, 2004, 06:02:32 am »
I bought my Star to load .45ACP, but my other addiction is AR15. From what I can see, to convert a Star Universal to .223Rem one needs to make a tool plate threaded for standard dies and a shell plate that will hold the .223 case. There is a .223 shell plate on ebay now so apparently this has been done.
I know the machine would have to be set for small primers and the powder measure would need some serious thought for dropping 20+ grains of stick powder. Any comments?

Star Reloaders / Safety Cam? What's it for?
« on: September 13, 2004, 06:25:59 am »
I have  a couple of questions regarding my Star(.45acp with crimp die).
What is the safety cam for?
What is the rod with the angled face for? Just past the station where the crimp die is.

Star Reloaders / The Perfect Progressive
« on: September 11, 2004, 07:01:01 am »
As I continue to examine my new (to me) Star, I am more and more impressed with the design and construction. After reading some other topics here regarding other presses, I began to think, what features and qualities would you combine from all other presses to make the perfect progressive press? Here are some of my thoughts, not necessarly in order of importance.

1) Handle both rifle and pistol.
2) Easily add or remove cases at any station.
3) No powder dropped if case isn't present.
4) No primer placed if case isn't present.
5) Auto index with on/off switch.
6) Stops when primer supply exhausted.
7) Fast and easy tooling change-over.
8) Machine tool like construction.
9) Comfort for operator.
10) Ease of operation.
11) Ease of setup.
12) Configurable for either right of left hand operation.
13) Compact.
14) Inexpensive?????(dream on!)

Being a manufacturer, I can make just about anything. I will be looking for areas where I can improve my Star. If I come up with something good it will be available to all. Don't ask me to make anything that is already available. The Star retro market is very small and I don't want to take a slice of anyone else's pie.
